This Golden Hawks National Rankings Update is presented by Westpoint Sports
RICHMOND HILL, Ont. - With the Golden Hawks ranked in the top 10 nationally for the ninth straight week, the team finds itself down a pair of spots after weekend action.
After a two-game weekend road trip, the Golden Hawks now check in as the sixth-ranked team in Canada. The purple and gold went the distance against Nipissing, winning 2-1 in a four-round shootout. A day later, the Golden Hawks fell 3-1 to the reigning McCaw Cup champion Toronto Varsity Blues.
The same cast of conference characters are featured in this week's rankings. Guelph moved up one spot to fourth, Waterloo jumped two places to fifth, and Queen's stayed pat at number eight.
U SPORTS uses the Elo rating system to calculate its weekly national rankings. Elo calculates team rankings on a game-by-game basis, using an algorithm that generates a statistical calculation based on certain customized variables adapted across the range of U SPORTS team sports.
