WATERLOO, Ont. - Laurier women's lacrosse attacker
Riley Marwick and men's rugby vice-captain
Jordan Keizs have been named the Laurier Athletes of the Week for the week ending October 4, 2026.
Marwick delivered a memorable performance during the final home weekend of her Golden Hawks career, leading Laurier's offence with seven goals and an assist across two games.
The fourth-year film major from Orillia, Ont. starred against McMaster, scoring four goals on five shots while adding three loose-ball recoveries and a forced turnover. Her impact extended beyond the scoresheet as she played a key role in Laurier's transition game and consistently pressured the opposition at both ends of the field.
Marwick followed that effort with another standout performance against Guelph, recording three goals and one assist to help power the Golden Hawks attack.
This marks the second career Laurier Athlete of the Week honour for Marwick.
Keizs led by example as the Golden Hawks earned a third straight win by defeating Brock in St. Catherines, making his presence felt across the field with a dominant two-way performance.
The vice-captain and economics major from Peterborough, Ont. was a force defensively, repeatedly stopping opposition attacks with tackle after tackle and setting the tone for Laurier's physical play. He also made a significant contribution offensively, scoring two tries to spark the Golden Hawks attack.
Beyond his statistical performance, he remained composed in the face of adversity and helped guide the Golden Hawks to a disciplined effort, with the team taking just three penalties over the course of the match.
Keizs earns Laurier Athlete of the Week honours for the first time in his career.
