WATERLOO – The Laurier Golden Hawks women's and men's basketball teams will hit the court in style this Friday, January 16, when they face the Western Mustangs. For this game, the Hawks will wear specially designed jerseys featuring the Students' Union across the chest and the Shinerama emblem on the shoulder. These specialty jerseys are being worn to celebrate the 50th anniversary of the Wilfrid Laurier University Students' Union, an anniversary that is fittingly recognized as the golden anniversary.
Following the game, these one-of-a-kind jerseys will be auctioned off, with all proceeds going to Cystic Fibrosis Canada through Laurier's Shinerama campaign. Shinerama is one of Canada's largest post-secondary fundraising initiatives, and Laurier has a proud tradition of leading the charge in support of this important cause.
Fans are encouraged to come out, cheer on the Hawks, and join in making a difference. Tip-off is set for 6:00 p.m. for the women's game and 8:00 p.m. for the men's game at the Athletic Complex.
