RICHMOND HILL, Ont. - The Golden Hawks are back on top.Â
After a blowout 30-9 win over the Windsor Lancers to improve to 2-0 on the season, the Golden Hawks have moved up one spot to sit tied for first in the nation. Â
The Golden Hawks share the top seed with the Laval Rouge et Or who are 1-0 after a 37-15 win over McGill. Â
Western (#3) and Queen's (#5) round out the conference trio. All three teams have moved up in the rankings, while Guelph, who previously ranked #7, fell out of the top 10 completely. Â
Guelph, Ottawa, and Waterloo were the other conference schools to receive votes.Â
U SPORTS uses the Elo rating system to calculate its weekly national rankings. Elo calculates team rankings on a game-by-game basis, using an algorithm that generates a statistical calculation based on certain customized variables adapted across the range of U SPORTS team sports. Â
The Top 10 in football is generated by a combination of Elo rankings and a media poll, each component worth 50 percent of the final total.Â
