This Golden Hawks National Rankings Update is presented by Westpoint Sports

RICHMOND HILL, Ont. - The Golden Hawks are back on top.

After a blowout 30-9 win over the Windsor Lancers to improve to 2-0 on the season, the Golden Hawks have moved up one spot to sit tied for first in the nation.

The Golden Hawks share the top seed with the Laval Rouge et Or who are 1-0 after a 37-15 win over McGill.

Western (#3) and Queen's (#5) round out the conference trio. All three teams have moved up in the rankings, while Guelph, who previously ranked #7, fell out of the top 10 completely.

Guelph, Ottawa, and Waterloo were the other conference schools to receive votes.

U SPORTS uses the Elo rating system to calculate its weekly national rankings. Elo calculates team rankings on a game-by-game basis, using an algorithm that generates a statistical calculation based on certain customized variables adapted across the range of U SPORTS team sports.

The Top 10 in football is generated by a combination of Elo rankings and a media poll, each component worth 50 percent of the final total.
