Taye Donald named a 2024/25 OUA men's basketball all-star

BURLINGTON, Ont. - For the third season in a row, Taye Donald is an OUA all-star.

The fourth-year guard from St. Thomas, Ont. was named a second-team all-star for the second time as the OUA announced its annual award winners on Thursday.

Laurier's team MVP the past two seasons, Donald finished as the OUA's third-highest scorer averaging 19.5 points per game. He also ranked in the conference's top ten for total points (370), steals (43), and minutes per game (31.9).

"We are very happy for Taye to receive this recognition," said Laurier's interim manager of men's basketball operations and head coach Cavell Johnson. "Although this is an individual award, it was clear all year that he played for - and through - his teammates first."

"It's great to have such an impactful and caring student-athlete finish his OUA career with us with this bright spot. We look forward to supporting and cheering him through his journey after Laurier."

In 19 regular season games, Donald cracked 20 or more points nine times.

On a per-game basis, he led the Golden Hawks in points, made three-pointers, made free-throws, made field-goals, and minutes played.

Despite Laurier falling just short of qualifying for the postseason, Donald was also named a Laurier Athlete of the Week three times in 2024/25.
