This Golden Hawks National Rankings Update is presented by Westpoint Sports
RICHMOND HILL, Ont. - The Golden Hawks men's swimming team are nationally ranked, coming in at number 10. It's the first time ever since U SPORTS swimming rankings started being released in 2002/03.
The Golden Hawks are coming off a gold medal finish at the Dean Boles Divisional Championships, and helped the team finish second in combined scoring.
"Ranking Top 10 in U SPORTS for the first time in program history is truly worth celebrating. There is still more work to be accomplished to solidify this ranking on a constant basis. For today, we will enjoy the accolades, tomorrow we get back at it," head coach Cathy Pardy said.
The reigning national champion UBC Thunderbirds sit first by a large margin, followed by Toronto, the winners of the last 11 OUA championships and national runners-up.
Including Toronto, five OUA teams are in the national rankings. Western comes in at number six, followed by Ottawa at seven, and a few places down, York ranks ninth while the Golden Hawks are tenth.
McMaster, Waterloo, Brock, Carleton, and Guelph were the other conference schools to score points.
