This Golden Hawks National Rankings Update is presented by Westpoint Sports
RICHMOND HILL, Ont. - The Golden Hawks are still holding strong seven weeks in.
Despite the bye week, the Golden Hawks are in the #1-ranked team in the nation, and have been so for six weeks straight.
There wasn't much movement around the conference this week with Western staying put at number two and Queen's at number seven. However, after their loss in the Panda Game to Carleton, previously #10 Ottawa dropped out of the rankings.
Windsor, Carleton, Ottawa, and Guelph were the other OUA schools receiving votes with Carleton getting its first vote this year.
U SPORTS uses the Elo rating system to calculate its weekly national rankings. Elo calculates team rankings on a game-by-game basis, using an algorithm that generates a statistical calculation based on certain customized variables adapted across the range of U SPORTS team sports.
The Top 10 in football is generated by a combination of Elo rankings and a media poll, each component worth 50 percent of the final total.
