This Golden Hawks National Rankings Update is presented by Westpoint Sports
RICHMOND HILL, Ont. - For the first time this season, the Golden Hawks have cracked the U SPORTS top 10.
After winning three games in a row, the Golden Hawks are now eighth in the country. At 3-1, the team is second in the OUA West and has the second most goals for (10) and second least goals against (3) in the entire OUA.
The team's current rankings is also their highest since they opened the season at number seven in 2014.
There was some movement in this week's rankings. Laurier jumped from 12th to eighth, Guelph went from sixth to third, Toronto fell from third to fifth, and Waterloo went from fourth to ninth.
U SPORTS uses the Elo rating system to calculate its weekly national rankings. Elo calculates team rankings on a game-by-game basis, using an algorithm that generates a statistical calculation based on certain customized variables adapted across the range of U SPORTS team sports.
The Top 10 in football is generated by a combination of Elo rankings and a media poll, each component worth 50 percent of the final total.
