WATERLOO, Ont. - The #1-ranked Golden Hawks kept their perfect season alive on Senior Night with a 55-12 win over the Carleton Ravens.
Here are the Laurier football Players of the Week, presented by Nothers The Award Store, for the team's win:
OFFENSE
Ryan Hughes – Wide Receiver
Hughes was the centre of attention on Friday. He had a season high 102 receiving yards on six catches, and had his second multi-touchdown game of the year with three.
The Mississauga native now has 488 receiving yards, and sits third in the OUA in receiving touchdowns with seven.
This was Hughes's second Player of the Week nomination this year.
DEFENSE
Maliek Cote – Defensive Back
Cote continued to be a reliable presence for the Golden Hawks on Senior Night. He has played in all seven regular season games and has played in all 40 games of his Golden Hawk career.
Against Carleton, Cote had a team high 6.5 tackles, six solo and one assist, bringing him to 34.5 on the year. Cote helped the Laurier defense limit the Ravens offense to only 249 total yards.
This was Cote's first Player of the Week award this season.
SPECIAL TEAMS
Logan Moore – Wide Receiver
Moore, a Burlington native, led the way on special teams for the Golden Hawks. He had four punt returns and a career-high 71 return yards.
Late in the game, Moore's 29-yard return put the Golden Hawks deep in Ravens territory where the offense came away with a touchdown that sealed the game.
This was Moore's first career Player of the Week selection.
SCOUT TEAM
The Laurier football scout team Players of the Week are Denzel Robertson (WR) on offense, Javein Smith (DB) on defense, and Nick Honchar (RB) on special teams.
