THUNDER BAY, Ont. - The Laurier Golden Hawks scored four unanswered goals in the third period to overcome a two-goal deficit against the Lakehead Thunderwolves en route to a 4-2 victory, extending their win streak to three games.
There were no leaders after twenty minutes of hockey. Lakehead had three powerplay chances to break the ice in the opening frame but were unable to find a way past netminder
Christian Propp and the Golden Hawk penalty kill.
Lakehead's powerplay found some success in the second period. Colin Van Den Hurk's slapshot squeaked past Propp at 7:47 to give the Thunderwolves the first lead of the game.
Seven minutes later, Ed McNeill beat Propp glove side with a nice shot to give Lakehead some insurance.Â
Sam Rhodes redirected a point shot from
Bryce Kilbourne to put the Golden Hawks on the board 9:42 into the final frame. The goal was his tenth of the season, tying his OUA best with eight games remaining in the season.
Â
Two minutes later,
Max Dodig infiltrated the offensive zone and then dished the puck off to the late man in the slot,
Thomas Lenart, who ripped a shot past Lakehead's Max Wright to tie the game at two.
Â
Brown then potted his seventh of the campaign to secure a 4-2 victory for the Golden Hawks.
Â
Christian Propp was his usual stellar self. The third-year netminder put up 27 saves on 29 shots in his sixth win of the season.Â
Plus + Three is a StreakÂ
The Golden Hawks are on their first win streak of the season. They have scored four or more goals in four of their last five games.Â
Plus + Assist MachineÂ
Bryce Kilbourne picked up three apples in this one, assisting on every goal except for
Patrick Brown's empty netter.
