TORONTO – GLOBL JAM is back after its inaugural tournament last year, and this time two Golden Hawks will be part of the action.
The FIBA sanctioned event, which is organized by Canada Basketball and Sportsnet, includes GLOBL JAM FIVES, a tournament pitting four men's and women's international under-23 squads against each other.
On the men's side, teams from Canada, the United States, and Germany will be joined by the multinational team Africa, whose roster includes fourth-year Golden Hawks forward Majok Deng.

Deng, of South Sudanese background, solidified himself as a regular starter in the latter half of the 2022-2023 season for Laurier. He averaged 6.4 points and 5.7 rebounds per game, as well as an OUA tenth-best 1.3 blocks.
Deng will have a familiar face behind the bench, as manager of men's basketball operations and head coach Justin Serresse will also be representing Laurier as an assistant coach with team Africa.
They'll tip off the tournament against team Canada on Wednesday, July 12. The next day they'll face team Germany, before finishing off the round robin July 15 against the United States, this year represented by the NCAA juggernaut Kentucky Wildcats.
The bronze and gold medal games are set for July 16.
All games will take place at the Mattamy Athletic Centre in Toronto and will be broadcast nationally on Sportsnet.
