ST. CATHERINES, Ont. - The Golden Hawks were eliminated from the Queens Cup playoffs by the Brock Badgers on Sunday night. The Badgers came out on top of a hard-fought game as they defeated the Golden Hawks 4-1.Â

Senior
Matt McJannet picked up Laurier's lone goal in game three as he tipped a point shot from fellow senior
Adrian Nabuurs on a powerplay 6:48 into the first period.Â
The Golden Hawks put the Badgers on their heels in the first period, outshooting Brock 11-7 in the frame.
More back-and-forth action filled the second period. Laurier had a powerplay and a flurry of chances out in front, but Roman Basran found a way to keep the puck out of his net.
Brock's Adam Berg scored on a man advantage to tie the game up at one just past the game's mid-way point.
Laurier outshot Brock again in the second period, but things remained tied as the two teams headed into the final twenty minutes of play.
Justin Brack opened the scoring 2:11 into the third period, tipping the scales in favour of the Badgers.Â
Adam Berg picked up his second goal of the match on a beauty to put the Badgers up 3-1.Â
Jared Marino scored his first goal of the series on an empty net to seal the Golden Hawks' fate with 38 seconds remaining in the third period.
The Brock Badgers will go on to face the Windsor Lancers in the quarter-final.Â
Christian Propp made 24 saves on the night for a total of 90 saves in the series.Â
Despite the loss, Laurier's interim manager of men's hockey operations and head coach
Kevin Forrest was still proud of the team.Â
"It hurts right now. We had some pretty good momentum and the vibes were good heading into tonight," he said. "We played a heck of a game. We pushed a really good team right to the end."
"They have a lot to be proud of," Forrest continued. "Our guys played as hard and as good as they could. They kept a highly explosive offence off the board until the last period."
"We started 0-5 and went 13-9 to make a push for playoffs. When they cut the number of teams from eight down to six, that was a huge accomplishment for this group. To do that and then give Brock a pretty good scare, it's disappointing but, overall, I am proud of this team."
