KP Anand stepping down as Associate Director of Business Development and Operations

WATERLOO, Ont. - Wilfrid Laurier University Athletics & Recreation announced today that KP Anand will step down as Associate Director of Business Development and Operations, effective June 17. Anand has accepted a new role at Queen's University as its Executive Director, Advancement, Faculty of Arts and Science.

Anand started at Laurier in May of 2018 as the Associate Director of Business Development & Facilities before being selected as the Associate Director of Business Development and Operations after a national search in 2021.

He started with a mandate to increase departmental revenue through strategic partnerships. His portfolio evolved to include departmental operations, overseeing enhancement projects related to University Stadium and Alumni Field, redevelopment of the departmental website and making the Golden Hawk more visible through various digital platforms and campaigns.

Anand also served as Co-Chair of the Laurier Equity, Diversity, Inclusion Taskforce along with Dr. Barrington Walker, AVP EDI. He also volunteered on both the OUA and OCAA EDI committees.

"We are all extremely happy for KP in reaching his next milestone," said Acting Director of Athletics & Recreation, Kate McCrae Bristol. "On behalf of the entire Golden Hawks family, we wish him a hearty congratulations on his new role."

Although he is transitioning away from athletics, Anand is excited about his new opportunity, as the role will still allow him to focus on the student experience.

"The rich tapestry of Laurier's vision for the student experience and community has provided me with invaluable experience that I will carry along with me in my career for many years to come," said Anand. "I'm incredibly proud of what we have accomplished and, although this was a difficult decision, as the saying goes "Once a Hawk, always a Hawk"."
