WATERLOO, Ont. - Laurier's women's basketball team was back in action Friday night to face-off against a tough Guelph Gryphons team for their second matchup of the season. Unfortunately for the Hawks, they would come out on the losing end of this one, 70-49.
In the first quarter, Laurier was able to keep it fairly close with four points from
Emmanuelle Felix. However, at the end of the quarter, Guelph started to pull away, ending the quarter with a 17-8 lead.
The second quarter saw Guelph continue to extend their lead, outscoring Laurier 20-9 in the quarter. Laurier struggled from beyond the arc in the frame, going 0 of 5 while Guelph was able to hit two of their five attempts. After the first half, Guelph held a 37-17 lead.

In the second half of the game, Laurier restricted Guelph from extending their lead but weren't able to dig themselves out of the deficit. Guelph outscored Laurier in the third quarter 20-14 due to Laurier's continued struggles from beyond the arc.
The fourth quarter went fully in favour of the Golden Hawks, as they outscored Guelph 18-13.
Brooklyn Johnson led the way with four points.
By the end of the game, Laurier was able to reduce the deficit to 21 points, but Guelph was able to maintain their advantage to extend their winning streak to six games.
The Hawks have now dropped six in a row.

Laurier made just one three-pointer out of their 24 attempts but their defensive effort limited Guelph's second-chance points to just 16 - a significant improvement from Wednesday night.

Brady played a great all -around game today, scoring seven points (on perfect shooting from the field), recording eight rebounds with two blocks and a steal. Brady was able to put up this stat line in just 18 minutes of play.
Guelph Gryphons

Shantz was able to put up another double-double with 13 points and 13 rebounds, along with three steals.
