SUDBURY, Ont. - The Golden Hawks wrapped the 2022 portion of their schedule with their second win in three games after a 66-63 defeat of the Laurentian Voyageurs on Saturday night.
Kate White got the Golden Hawks going in the opening quarter as she burst out of the gates with eight points on 45% shooting to lead all players. With Laurentian's scoring off the bench outpacing Laurier's though, the home side took an 18-17 lead into the second.
The second quarter saw seven Golden Hawks record at least two points despite going 0 for 8 from three. After the first half of play, the game was all tied up at 34-34.Â
Much like Brady at the start of the game, Miranda Campbell led the charge for the Hawks by scoring seven points to begin the second half. The Toronto, Ont. native also pulled down three rebounds and two assists as Laurier shot 47% from the field compared to 30% for the Voyageurs.
With Laurier taking a two-point lead into the fourth, rookie Brittyn Graves came to life, scoring six of her 10 points on the night. She also would set a new season and career-high with eight rebounds.Â
The game remained close as Laurier was up just three points in the last possession of the game, however, Laurier was able to lock up the victory and raise their record to 4-6 on the season.
Campbell finished with five more rebounds in the frame to help secure her first career double-double.
The Golden Hawks head into the exam and holiday break tied with Windsor for fourth in the OUA West division, with the Lancers currently holding one game in-hand.
