Box Score WINDSOR, Ont. - The Golden Hawks were back on the court Wednesday evening for their first game against the Windsor Lancers. After the Hawks started the game on a good note, Windsor took the lead in the second quarter and never gave it up as the Lancers defeated the Hawks 74-59.
The first quarter started great for the Golden Hawks as they took a 23-22 lead. Alexa Sawchuck (Kingston, Ont.) scored six in the quarter to help propel Laurier to an early lead. However, trouble started showing as Windsor ended the quarter on a 10-4 run.

The run continued into the second quarter of play as Windsor outscored Laurier 15-4, capping off a strong 25-8 run going into halftime. Windsor led 37-27 going into the third quarter.Â
The third quarter found both teams struggling to hit shots as only 24 points were scored. Windsor continued adding to their lead, winning the quarter 13-11 and taking a 50-38 lead going into the fourth and final quarter.Â

The Golden Hawks came out firing in the fourth quarter, going on a 9-3 run, with all nine points being scored by
Maddy White (Bolton, Ont.) and Laurier's female Player of the Week,
Cassidy Hirtle (Sarnia, Ont.). Once Windsor found its scoring touch again, the deficit became too much to overcome and the Lancers came away with the win.

The Lancers out rebounded the Hawks 50-27 with 15 of those coming on the offensive end.

White got her first start of the season and did not disappoint, tallying 15 points and seven rebounds on very efficient shooting.

Carey played a great game, recording a double-double with 13 points and 10 rebounds.
