Box Score WATERLOO, Ont. - The Golden Hawks were back on the court Saturday night for game two of their back to back home series against the Lakehead Thunderwolves. After taking the first game from them on friday, the Hawks lost this one 68-57.
The first quarter saw Lakehead take a 17-11 lead, led by point guard Sofia Lluch (Mahón, Spain) who dropped eight points in the frame. Laurier started the game shooting just 1 for 8 from three.
In the second, Lakehead extended their lead, outscoring the Hawks 17-7. , with
Maddy White (Bolton, Ont.) recorded five of Laurier's seven points. At half, the Thunderwolves led 34-18.
Laurier found their footing in the second half, scoring 17 points and shooting 30%, however the Hawks could not cut down the deficit. Going into the fourth quarter, Lakehead had a commanding 52-35 lead.
In the fourth, Laurier came out firing, outscoring Lakehead 22-16, with 13 of those points coming from
Cassidy Hirtle (Sarnia, Ont.) and
Miranda Campbell (Toronto, Ont.). However, the final push was not enough to complete comeback with the Hawks recording their third loss of the season.
Lakehead really turned things around after a losing effort the night prior, dominating the boards and shooting almost 15% better than Laurier. However, Laurier did commit less turnovers and were able to get in close to the basket, receiving more free throws than the Thunderwolves.

Paul Falco commented how "Lakehead came out and played with more hunger and desperation".
"We were back on our heels and, although I was pleased the way we battled back, Lakehead was the better team from start to finish."
