Goni Avila earned a gold medal in the 200 IM at the OUA swimming championships, Laurier swimming's first men's gold medal since 2007 (David Hughes in the 1500 Free) with a time of 2:00.26 - which also set a new team record. The fourth-year business major from Richmond Hill, Ont. also won a silver medal in the 50m breaststroke in a time of 28.02. He also contributed to the 4x100m medley relay, which also set a team record, qualifying for U SPORTS in March. He was also a part of the 4x100m freestyle relay which placed fourth and set a third team record.
